Despite the disruption to normal business that TC Debbie threw at us last week, the Whitsundays are very much open for business. With charter operators hitting the water just days after the cyclone, restaurants and cafes opening once the water came back on and trade and marine service providers working around the clock to regain a sense of normality in the region, it is obvious that the operators in this great region mean business.
Our exciting marina developments, whilst they may have experienced slight delays, will all proceed as planned over the coming months. Hemingwayβs, our new waterfront restaurant currently being refurbished in the South Marina, was due to launch just before the Easter holidays. The restaurant relaunch will only be slightly delayed and will be ready by the end of April. Hemingwayβs will bring another level of class and modern Australian cuisine to the marina precinct and we are excited to introduce this new venue to our customers when they next visit.
Ocean Club, our floating customer lounge, sustained only minimal damage during the cyclone and will soon be towed around to the marina for minor repairs and the finishing touches to be added. Ocean Club will be open for guests in May and will provide another level of service for all our guests during their stay at the marina. More details about the services available at Ocean Club will be available over the coming weeks.
Lure, our wedding and conference venue, will this weekend host a wedding for 100 people. With great support from the local wedding industry and a resilient local young couple determined not to let the events of the past week ruin their magical day, this wedding will definitely be one to remember.
Bohemian Raw cafΓ© in the south village opened this morning with the help of a large generator and Sorrento Bar & Restaurant will be open by the end of the week when power is restored.
Overnight charter operators and bareboat charter operators based in the marina successfully got their customers out on the water this week, promoting the best place to be at the moment is on a boat as you will have access to power, water and a warm shower! On Friday, just two days after the storm passed Whitsunday Escape successful got 5 charter vessels on the water. Red Cat Adventures celebrated 6 years in business on Saturday with getting their vessel Tongarra back on the water and showcasing the region to their customers.
Ocean Rafting took a flight over the islands before resuming operations and took the stunning image of the Hill Inlet above. How wonderful to see the aqua water of the Whitsundays once again!
