The Whitsunday night of nights - 2024 Whitsunday Tourism Awards

The 2024 Whitsunday Tourism Awards were held at Daydream Island Resort and Spa this weekend and with over 300 attendees from the local tourism industry, it was most certainly the region’s night of nights.

Marina owner, Paul Darrouzet, was honoured with the Bob Porter Award for Outstanding Contribution to Tourism. This award was recognition of Darrouzet’s vision, his personal investment in the region and his unwavering commitment to making Coral Sea Marina Resort the award-winning business it is today, lifting marine tourism throughout the Whitsundays and delivering a major ongoing economic benefit to the region as well.

In an impassioned acceptance speech, Darrouzet thanked his team for their commitment to providing exceptional customer service and used the platform to reiterate that tourism in Airlie Beach deserves better and requires its fair share of funding from local council.

Coral Sea Marina Resort was awarded the Whitsunday Business of the Year award, sponsored by the Whitsunday Coast Chamber of Commerce. Marina CEO, Kate Purdie and resort General Manager, Dawn Romanella accepted the award together on behalf of the business.

The Coral Sea Resort went on to be awarded silver in the 4 – 4.5 Star Accommodation category. The resort team will attend the Queensland Tourism Awards in Brisbane next month, where they are nominated alongside some of the state’s best accommodation in the same category.

Many of the marina’s operators also were acknowledged throughout the night in a range of categories, once again affirming the quality of marine tourism operators who call the marina home and their unwavering commitment to providing the very best tourism experiences.
