WHAT was once a bare pontoon from the outer reef is now a $1.6 million floating Ocean Club one step closer to completion.
And there was great anticipation as the structure was gradually lowered on the water adjacent to the Shute Harbour Motel Hotel today.
Following a year of construction, the final touches are set to be completed by April 1 when it will be towed to Coral Sea Marina Resort as a premium asset to be enjoyed by sailing and yachting customers.
Coral Sea Marina Resort owner Paul Darrouzet said the massive investment was all about planning for future growth. “It will be a six-star facility and will enable a lot of our guests to be a lot closer to where their boats will be,” he said. “What it does for our customers is it gives them an even higher level of service, it has got individual ensuites, facilities and a club to relax in.
“We are all about continually improving and we are never going to stand still.”
Project manager David Morris and Logistics and Materials co-ordinator John Warren have played a key role towards the exciting investment, in turn responsible for the crane and equipment requirements. The facility will feature twelve ensuites, each sized over 12 square metres and complete with individual basins and tiling.
