The Whitsunday Charter Boat Industry Association (WCBIA) met yesterday to discuss an industry response to Tuesday’s shark incidents.
The members of WCBIA have agreed on a position of no in-water activities at the Cairn / Hook Passage for the immediate future, with a review to take place in the coming days.
The WCBIA represents over 80% of the Whitsundays marine tourism industry, so while this will be communicated to all of their industry members, we are assisting by communicating their position to the recreational boating sector.
The WCBIA have contacted all relevant government bodies and await further recommendation.
The safety of our guests and visitors is paramount and we will provide further updates via this channel, as received.
