The Whitsundays Festival of Motoring is calling on rally lovers and passionate community supporters to take up an epic, fun, new short-term volunteering position over the Whitsundays Festival of Motoring weekend from May 3-5.
The Whitsundays Festival of Motoring is a FREE 3-day event that features a number of exciting festivals and motorsport demonstrations for the entire family to enjoy.
The activities will span across Airlie Beach, Bowen foreshore and Proserpine. Volunteers will lend a familiar face in these regions, providing guidance across car parades, motorsport festivals, the Rally Whitsundays, show & shine displays, motorbike & go-kart demos and dirt bike sprint races along the beach.
Rally Whitsundays will steal the show with the opening round of the 2019 P3 Solutions CAMS Queensland Rally Championship and the festival is looking for Rally Whitsunday Marshalls in particular, to assist with the race.
Other volunteer roles required include Festival Marshalls & Festival Operation Assistants.
Paul Woodward, Clerk of the Course of Rally Whitsundays said that volunteers have a chance to become part of something truly exciting and will form some pretty special friendships along the way.
“Events of this proportion offer volunteers a range of different roles that they can enjoy and gain valuable experience from, dedicated volunteers and their support in delivering an event of this size demonstrate the community spirit that you will see right across the Whitsunday’s Region.”
“I officiate at QRC events because of the officials and competitors you meet – a group of like-minded people out having fun while watching an exciting competition from the best seats in the house. There is no better way, in motorsport, to be up close to some of the best drivers in the world.” A long standing rally official Iain Robertson said.
The jam-packed events are strategically positioned across the region to make the most of spectacular atmospheres and hotspots including Coral Sea Marina Resort, Mantra Club Croc, Bowen Foreshore and Proserpine Showgrounds.
“The Whitsundays Festival of Motoring is a one of a kind festival that brings together community spirit, local businesses, motorsport displays of go-karts, dirt bikes and motorbikes and showcasing our regions unique spaces together with local music artists and a free event for everyone to enjoy” said Lauren Penny, Event Manager for Whitsundays Festival of Motoring.
Up to 150 volunteers are invited to become part of the Whitsundays Festival of Motoring to ensure the event runs smoothly and visitors to the Whitsundays Region have the best time possible.
The Rally Whitsundays Volunteers will help by being one of our “road block teams” which monitor the side roads that are closed during the rally to prevent unauthorised access onto the rally route during competition. With about 100 kms of roads to cover we depend heavily on our enthusiastic and supportive members of the community. A training session will be held to our volunteers. If you would like to gather your family or bunch of mates and lend a hand we want to hear from you. Pack the picnic rug and enjoy the best spectator position of the rally.
Volunteers at the festival will become the face of the event, greeting guests, helping them navigate around the venues and answer general questions.
If you love your community, want to show off your beautiful Whitsunday region & be part of this new exciting event we want to hear from you.
