The month of May was one for the records with the Australian Superyacht Rendezvous, the ASMEX Conference, Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show and the Marinas19 International Conference & Trade Exhibition all taking place on the Gold Coast over the course of two intense weeks. We were thrilled to receive Gold in two categories at the Marina Industry Association awards; Commercial Marina of the Year and Community Engagement by a Marina. We would like to thank our valued guests, both new and returning, for coming to enjoy and contribute towards our world-class marina precinct, through which we have achieved these wonderful accolades.
June will be quiet on the event front but very busy behind the scenes as we prepare for our acquisition of the Coral Sea Resort. We have been pleased to announce that following the merging of these two companies, from 1 July we will be rebranded as Coral Sea Marina Resort. To mark this next phase in our history, we are hosting a weekend of activities for all to enjoy from Friday 5 July – Sunday 7 July. From art and fitness classes to a night of entertainment and a long lunch, there will be something for everyone – We look forward to celebrating this milestone with you.
Our final two regularly scheduled cruise ships will be in on the 6th and 23rd and we will hold our first women’s networking event at The Garden Bar Bistro – A Gathering in the Garden – on the 13th. We will also host our first Trivia Night on the 19th. We would love to see our guests come together in teams and join us to enjoy the evening!
We are also excited to announce the new opening of the Ocean Club Spa, located on the top floor of the Ocean Club in the south marina. Open every day from 9am-6pm, by pre-appointment only, there are many spa treatments to choose from and you can make a booking direct with the Ocean Club Spa team on 0476 553 683 or email oceanclubspa@gmail.com.
In other exciting news, we can now confirm that the new Coral Sea Marina Resort will be the official Whitsundays home port for the Clipper Round the World yacht race January, with hundreds of international crew members due to arrive alongside eleven 70-foot ocean racing yachts. This will be our first major event after the hotel upgrade so we intend on making it a great celebration.
