There is good news for visitors to the Whitsundays in 2017, with a significant increase in flights from the major metro centres to the Whitsunday Coast Airport (PPP). The new flights were announced just before Christmas and an additional seven flights a week will commence flying into the region in April 2017, from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
From April, there will now be three return flights a week to Sydney, an additional service each week on the Melbourne-Whitsundays route and an additional three services each week on Jetstar’s Brisbane route, including a late afternoon flight to suit business travellers. The announcement comes on the back of record numbers of tourists visiting the Whitsundays in the year to September 30, 2016, with more overseas visitors than ever before coming to the Whitsundays in the 12-month period.
For our domestic customers the improved connectivity to the mainland coast has removed the need for the long wait times to transfer from Hamilton Island on the ferry, before making your way to your vessel at the marina. For those customers who are looking to base their vessel in the Whitsundays during the cruising season, but still have to commute back to their bases down south for work, the increased flights will be a welcome addition.
To further improve the connectivity of the marina and make life easier for our guests, we can now offer a direct heli-transfer service from all incoming flights to and from both the Whitsunday Coast and Hamilton Island Airports. This means yourself or your guests can arrive at the marina’s private helipad by private transfer and within minutes be onboard your boat and ready for your Whitsunday adventure.
