Following $12 million of infrastructure upgrades, major works and beautification expansion for the past 2 years, Coral Sea Marina Resort is now poised to open a fully‐functioning, state‐of‐the‐art waterfront conference and wedding venue to capture regional, national and international markets.
Opening in February 2016, this additional improvement to the marina precinct’s onshore facilities will fill a gap providing a unique venue encompassing world‐class food, captivating views overlooking the Whitsunday Islands in a natural environment whilst encapsulating the same high professional standard of quality service delivery as the marina.
Coral Sea Marina Resort is the Gateway to The Great Barrier Reef and has direct access to the Whitsundays 74 islands. The new facility situated in paradise, is conveniently located only 30 minutes from Proserpine Airport or ferry transfer from Hamilton Island Airport, idyllic for brides to arrive on her memorable day by land, sea or via helicopter a short distance from her awaiting guests.
This diversified celebration centre oriented towards events, meetings, corporate gatherings, exhibitions and staff retreats, with break‐out areas in a great climate for team morale building, will deliver a memorable and iconic experiential, productive entertainment platform for companies and their employees.
Coral Sea Marina Resort owner and operator, Paul Darrouzet said, “An undercover, multi‐purpose function space with the capacity of 300 + numbers will be the only venue in the Airlie Beach‐Islands region, apart from Hamilton Island, capable of conference hosting ultimately boosting local mid‐week occupancy rates and accelerate visitation growth.”
National and international conference delegates and employees benefit from gathering at one of Australia’s most prestigious and world‐renowned tourist destinations, the perfect playground for sailing, cruising and accessing a variety of onshore activities and dining options amongst a marina village – a conducive environment for sharing knowledge and team building.
Paul Darrouzet added, “The new facility will play a pivotal role to the prosperous tourism growth of the region, raising destinational appeal and provide additional job opportunities”. Coral Sea Marina Resort is already the largest local employer and collaborations with tourism and industry associations are transpiring to capture wider national and international markets to the region’s destination precinct.
The Whitsunday’s Destination Tourism Plan for 2014 ‐ 2020 identified a conference, convention and wedding venue as the number one priority to increase the average visitor expenditure, along with an international airport into the region secondary for direct overseas flights.
Paul Darrouzet cited, “The marina’s new venue will enhance the positive economical impact, historically proven to occur in strongly performing conference and function markets located in desirable holiday locations, as wedding guests, attendees and delegates vacation with their families and loved ones before or after an event and more likely to return for another visit.”
Protected by its uniquely designed iconic breakwater, Coral Sea Marina Resort is the largest marina of its type in Australia with 507 berths, earning it the deserving reputation as the tourism, transport and recreation hub of the Whitsundays region.
An announcement regarding the venue’s name and opulent décor will be unveiled in the new year. Coral Sea Marina Resort has just released an expression of interest for catering tender contract for the facility, with submissions to be submitted by 20th December.
