Abell Point Yacht Club (APYC) now has a very motivated new committee and a clear new direction which will see an increased focus on fellowship and organised events to complement the historical race program. There is also a major shift to a club which is inclusive of all the boating community. The committee has recognised the need for a club which includes the extensive power boat fleet here in Airlie Beach and provides special events and get togethers which promote general boating in our unique Whitsunday region.
While our sailing events will always be a fundamental part of the club, we think events such as a formal dinner on Whitehaven Beach and a reef rendezvous on the Knuckle Reef pontoon will add a pretty unique feature to our club event calendar.
The APYC committee would like to encourage all Coral Sea Marina Resort customers to take a look at the great calendar of events planned for 2015 and plan to align your next stay with an upcoming event.
As well as the plans for the Knuckle Reef and Whitehaven Beach events, the APYC have planned golf weekends at Hamilton Island, wine and cheese nights on the marina arms as well as working closely with existing events such as Shag Island and the Game Fish Club annual tournament to make Abell Point Yacht Club a great club to belong to.
If you would like to join a yacht club that has a great line up of on and off water social events and is inclusive of all the boating community, consider a social membership for 2015 for just $80. A racing membership can also be obtained through the APYC which includes a Yachting Australia silver card for $170.
The next social event is this weekend for a cruise to Cid Harbour for a Sunset BBQ and beach cricket on Sat 14th from 4pm. If you would like to attend please RSVP to abellpointyc@gmail.com by this Wednesday.
