The Coral Sea Marina Resort Queensland State Karting Titles will be held at the Whitsundays MotoSports Club this weekend from Friday to Sunday.
The state titles will see 15 classes of sprints karts and over 300 karters competing from across the nation with roughly 20 local drivers from the Whitsunday Motosports Club all competing to be named number 1 in Australia.
President of the Whitsunday kart committee Adam Stroud predicts it’ll be Queensland’s biggest state titles in the last five years which will be a good financial boost for the local economy with an expected crowd of 2000 over the weekend.
Roland Legge will be one of the competitors participating in the Qld Open Sprint Kart Championships held at the Whitsunday Motorsports Cub over the weekend. Roland is an accomplished kart racer and late last year it was decided that it was time for him to apply his skills at a higher level; Roland’s first race in a Formula 3 car was at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide earlier this year. Roland recently raced the second round at the iconic Mt Panorama circuit at Bathurst in the
Bathurst Motor Festival, the team were very impressed with his results, 1st race, 2nd place, 2nd race, 1st place and the round win. Roland is currently leading the Kumho Cup Series with 5 race starts and 3 wins and outright winner of the first 2 rounds. Roland’s results prove that he is a very talented young driver with potential to race at any level with the weekend state titles a great opportunity to see him in action.
With a keen interest for motorsport himself, Paul Darrouzet owner of Coral Sea Marina Resort has thrown his support behind the event as major sponsor to support the growth and profile of the local motor sports club.
There will be high class racing and lots of action in this prestigious event. The event will run over three days. Spectators are welcome and a canteen and bar facilities will be available.
