As the marina team prepare for a busy cruising season, there are a number of developments that are progressing across the marina that I would like to provide an update on. All projects are progressing with a view to be fully operational in the peak of the cruising season in August/September.
Pontoon Replacement and Repairs (Managed by Superior Jetties)
New Arms, North Marina (HJK, FG & A Arms)
Our Demolition and Piling teams have now finished and left the site.
Handover of HJK Arm occurred on time, on June 15th and Stage 1 of FG Arm has just been handed over today ready for full service use from tomorrow, 1st July (see attached pictures). We are in the process of installing the remainder of FG Arm to be completed by the end of July, and A Arm will be progressively handed over throughout August. The T Head of the FG Arm will be the last item installed (Berths G22/F24) at the end of August.
Repairs (South Marina & BC, DE Arms)
At this time the major repair works on both the North and South Marina have been completed, with a few minor items to be finished over the coming weeks. The outstanding items include replacement fendering on the South Marina, underpinning of the Mooring Block on the BC Arm access and a replacement finger on C Arm. A ‘detailed repairs’ program for the South Marina is currently being negotiated with the insurers. Initial investigations and testing have been completed and these works will address each individual pontoon and any small stresses within the decks and deck tiles caused by Cyclone Debbie.
The repairs works program will involve a crew on site working their way, pontoon by pontoon, through the whole South Marina. The works program has been designed to have minimal interruption to marina guests and tenants and all works will be done insitu with small sections of walkways and finger pontoons being worked on at any given time. All pontoons at all times offered to guests will have the tick of safety.
Ocean Club
There has been much anticipation around the opening of the new floating Ocean Club facility in the South Marina. This was initially due to be open in June for full customer use, however the Cyclone pushed back the opening due to significant repairs that was required. The good news is that the Ocean Club will be ready for use in 3 weeks’ time which the marina team are excited to offer as a service to all our private guests.
The Ocean Club will provide a premium service to marina customers with 12 private ensuites, laundry, sunset deck and customer service office at a convenient location right on the marina. More information regarding the grand opening and how you can gain access to the Ocean Club will be provided in the coming weeks.
Upgrade South Marina Power Supply
To ensure that consistent levels of power supply is being supplied to all customers over the peak season we will be upgrading our power capacity in the south marina next week. To complete the upgrade there will be intermittent power outages on the selected arms on Wednesday 5th July. The outage times are listed below:
• Q/Z to lose power from 7am to 11am
• O/P 10am to 1pm
• N/M 12pm to 4pm
There will be a reminder sent early next week on the power outages.
As we progress through the above developments and other exciting marina projects that are coming up, our marina team will endeavour to keep you up to date and aware of the services available to you at Coral Sea Marina Resort.
